Atlerts is a product of Bridgelines Inc., a Delaware corporation. On this page, “Atlerts” and “the Service” mean the software, and “we”, “us” and “our” mean Bridgelines Inc. — the company that provides it and the party to any agreement with your school.
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) regulates the online collection of personal information from children under 13. This page explains how Atlerts collects, uses, and safeguards information about children under 13 in the context of school athletic operations.
Operator
Atlerts is operated by Bridgelines Inc. as a service provider to your school. The school is the “operator” for COPPA purposes when the data is collected for school authorized educational use. Personal information is collected, used, and disclosed only for educational purposes authorized by the school.
What we collect about children under 13
- Name, date of birth, gender, school grade, photo (optional).
- Sport registration and participation status.
- Pre-participation health information provided by the parent (concussion history, allergies, medications, conditions).
- Care records created by school athletic-training staff: injuries, training-room visits, treatment plans, appointments, concussion protocols.
- Documents uploaded by the parent (e.g. physical exam form).
How information is collected
Information about children under 13 is provided to us by the parent or guardian (during account creation and the registration wizard) or by the school's authorized staff (when documenting care). Children under 13 do not create their own accounts on Atlerts.
How we use it
We use the information solely to deliver the Service to the school: maintain participation eligibility, document care, notify parents of injuries and appointments, generate compliance reports for the school's athletic association, and produce records on request. We do not use children's personal information for advertising, profiling outside the educational context, or sale.
Parental consent
By creating an account on behalf of your child, you provide verifiable parental consent under COPPA for the school-authorized purposes described above. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting your school's administrator; on withdrawal the school will determine the student's eligibility to continue participation per its policies.
Parental rights
- Review the information we have collected about your child (use the “Download record” button on the athlete's dashboard).
- Request that we delete information we have collected about your child (subject to the school's records-retention obligations).
- Refuse to permit further collection of your child's information.
Disclosure to third parties
We do not disclose children's information to third parties except: (i) to the subprocessors listed in our Privacy Policy under written agreements that prohibit re-use, (ii) to the school as the educational record holder, (iii) as required by law or in a health or safety emergency.
